Everything You Need to Know
Get answers to common questions about DecVault's features, security, and privacy
DecVault is a decentralized password manager and encrypted file vault powered by the Sia network. All your data is encrypted client-side and stored across a decentralized infrastructure — ensuring true privacy and full ownership.
Unlike traditional services that rely on centralized servers, DecVault uses decentralized storage. Your data is encrypted locally, stored across independent nodes, and never accessed by us. This eliminates single-point failures, metadata exposure, and cloud dependency.
Never. Everything you store in DecVault is encrypted on your device using your seed phrase before it is uploaded or synced.
Your seed phrase is your only recovery method. Because DecVault uses a zero-knowledge architecture, we cannot reset, access, or recover your encryption key. If the seed phrase is lost, the vault cannot be restored.
No. DecVault has no backend storing user data. All encrypted data is stored on: (1) The Sia decentralized storage network, or (2) Your own self-hosted Sia renterd node, if you choose. This ensures full data ownership and privacy.
No. Our system is built so that even we cannot access your data. We never see your seed phrase, keys, or unencrypted content.
DecVault continuously checks whether your identifiers appear in known data breaches. If a match is detected, you receive instant alerts with details and recommended actions to secure your accounts.
Yes. Your encrypted vault syncs securely across iOS & Android, and macOS & Windows. Your data remains encrypted at all times — keys never leave your device.
Yes. Core components, including encryption and decentralized storage integrations, are open-source and available on GitHub. This ensures transparency, security, and community trust.
No. DecVault uses seed-phrase authentication. You do not need an email, phone number, or username. You stay anonymous, and your identity is never stored.
